In 2021 the worldwide cost of API development passed 100bn USD. The global pandemic further accelerated the push for digital transformation. Together with the rise of microservices, the need for connecting reached an all-time maximum.
Yet, we are manually wiring our systems together. We hard-code our application in a process that is hardly scalable and borderline reliable. The autonomous API enables our applications to publish, discover, and connect capabilities automatically without being a liability. Freeing the developers from plumbing will unlock the unparalleled composability opening new business opportunities. In this talk, we will explore the concept of Autonomous APIs.
We will discuss its implementation, illustrate it with several examples and discuss the impact on current API practices.
